Another framed art project

Well, I can finally show you the other frame project I did this Christmas! My wonderful downline Jaime adores the Bella Rose designer series paper, so of course I had to use it on her gift. This is another variation on the framed art project in this post.

Don't get me wrong...I'm still in the Christmas spirit, but I'm just so danged tired of making Christmas cards! I'm doing an all-birthday card stamp-a-stack next month, so I got a head start on the projects. I've actually been quite productive this weekend and have 3 of the 5 designs ready! Here's one that I did, aiming for a masculine card:

I tried to keep it very simple with nothing that would feel "girly" to a potential recipient, so no ribbon, no glitter, nothing more than stamps and cardstock.

Framed Art

When I came across a fabulous framed art project on Dawn McVey's blog, I just knew I had to try it out. And what better way than with some yummy new designer series paper that will premiere in the Spring-Summer Idea Book & Catalog? Ready for a sneak peek?!?

I made this as a gift for my dear upline, Sherrie (thanks again for all your support this year!). I placed the punches along some Regal Rose cardstock, layered it onto Pink Pirouhette and again onto Kiwi Kiss. I added a faux bow and placed it inside an 8x10 frame. For the final touch, I used a sticky cuts letter on the glass and added some cosmo glitter. Trust me, this picture just does NOT do this project justice - it's so sparkly and bright IRL! This new designer series paper is so much fun!

I made a variation on this project but can't post it until the recipient receives it - I don't want to ruin the surprise! But look for it on my blog sometime next week.

Bright snowflakes

Well, despite some very kind comments from fellow bloggers, I wasn't completely satisfied with the Christmas card I posted yesterday. I sat down with the same layout and changed up the color scheme to something brighter. The color combo was inspired by my wonderful upline, Sherrie, who loves green and pink. I like this one much better! ENJOY!!

Another Christmas card

I need just a few more Christmas cards to finish up my annual mailing and started playing around with a few scraps I had sitting on my desk. The end result was this:

I think I'm going to try it again with a brighter, fresher color combo and see what happens. This one is nice, but it's feeling a little dull with all the dark colors. What do you think??

Patchwork Christmas

I have seen some fabulous cards with the look of a patchwork quilt recently. I only have a few scraps left of the Holiday Treasures designer series paper, so I knew I just HAD to give it a try. I ran some cardstock through my Big Shot machine and then through a xyron machine to make it completely sticky. Then I cut the DSP into 3/4" squares and attached them, trimming the edges. I have to admit it's a bit tedious, but I just LOVE the effect! I hope you enjoy my creation!

Service Project

My husband is the leader of my son's cub scout den and the boys needed to complete a service project. Last year, they made cards for a local nursing home, but this year, we decided to send cards to the troops overseas. I was tipped off to a "Holiday Cards for Heroes" program through the American Red Cross to get cards to the soldiers. So I whipped up some red, white and blue cards because I wasn't sure what holiday the recipients celebrate. The boys added a personal message to the cards and then they each signed all the cards. Some even added some cute drawings inside. I wanted to keep the cards simple because I didn't have much time to throw them together. So I pulled out this old, retired stamp set that Stampin' Up! sold back in 2001 and designed this...

The boys seemed to really enjoy the project, and it felt great to send good wishes to those service men and women who are away from their friends and family this holiday season.

O Christmas Tree

I'm well on my way to making the nearly 100 Christmas cards I'll be mailing out this year, but now that it's December, I'm feeling the pressure to get these done and out earlier than I did last year. Looking for a quick and easy holiday card, I turned to my trusty Deer Friends hostess stamp set, some punches and designer series paper from the I Wish Simply Scrappin' kit.



No, it's not the most original design, but if you're looking for something that's easy to mass-produce, this tried-and-true layout fits the bill! Remember, most people are just thrilled with receiving a hand-made card from you. It doesn't have to be totally decked out to impress them! In fact, I'll probably take this idea and slightly alter it with different colors/patterns and crank out a bunch tonight.

Happy {belated} Birthday Angel!

I made this bright and cheerful card for my friend and fellow stamper, Angel (howdy! ) more than a week ago. But then she took off to Florida for the Thanksgiving holiday last week, and I didn't want her to catch a sneek peek of her birthday card before I had a chance to give it to her. Now that she has it in her hands, I can safely show the rest of you! I love the yummy color combo in the Sweet Always DSP and this retired stamp set still gets some lovin' from time to time. Happy birthday Angel!! :-)
