Saturday Scrapbooking

I haven't scrapbooked in what seems like forever, but felt inspired when I came across this picture I took of my son last December during my annual pursuit of the perfect Christmas card shot. He was jumping around on this nature trail we have in our neighborhood and I happened to snap a picture at just the right moment. I love this fun side of him.

Stamps: Wanted
Cardstock: Wild Wasabi Chocolate Chip, Purely Pomegranate, Very Vanilla
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Chocolate Chip

Happy Birthday Chester!

No, it's not even remotely stamp-related (other than the picture being taken in my craft room), but my little puppy turns one year old today!

Happy Birthday Chester!

Color Inspiration #10

If you haven't discovered the awesomeness that is Kristina Werner, you are really missing out!! This fabulously talented phenom has more creativity in her little toe than I have in my entire body. She has a weekly color inspiration challenge, and I am finally taking the plunge and giving it a try. Here's the beautiful color palette for this week's challenge:

I'm not really feelin' the love on my creation, but here it is nonetheless... I started with some Bashful Blue for the cardbase. It looked awfully bright with the other colors, so I toned it down a bit using my color spritzer with Night of Navy and Old Olive markers. Next I stamped the tree image using Close to Cocoa, So Saffron and Old Olive markers, using the thumping technique. The sentiment is stamped with Not Quite Navy ink and the Whisper White cardstock was layered on some Le Jardin designer series paper and then onto Not Quite Navy cardstock. I attached some Old Olive poly-twill ribbon for another little splash of color. I attached everything with stampin' dimensionals and done! Hope you like it!! :)

Variations on thank you

I needed to make some end-of-school thank you cards from the PTO to the secretaries at my son's school. Using some scraps and a simple design, I was able to whip these up in no time! (Judy, shield your eyes if you're browsing my blog!!)

So, so simple but so, so cute! I started with 1-1/2" squares of designer series paper and mounted them onto a 3-1/2" square of cardstock. I stamped the "thank you" sentiment from the new Fresh Cuts stamp set (will be featured in the Fall-Winter Idea Book & Catalog!) on cardstock and punched them out using the large oval punch. The square and sentiment were then mounted using stampin' dimensionals. Easy, peasy!

Stamps: Fresh Cuts
Cardstock: Groovy Guava, Close to Cocoa, Soft Sky (#1), Pretty in Pink, Purely Pomegranate (#2) and Bashful Blue, Real Red (#3)
Ink: Close to Cocoa (#1), Purely Pomegranate (#2), Real Red (#3)
Accessories: large oval punch, stampin' dimensionals

Girls Stampin' Night

My son and husband went on a cub scout campover this weekend, so I got some girls only time to stamp with a friend {{Hey Angel!! }}. I CASEd this card from one of the samples on the front of the Crew Kids Boy Simply Scrappin' Kit. I didn't have the chipboard star, so I improvised with a punched star. I just LOVE the colors in this kit!

And I played around with the Bugs & Kisses stamp set and came up with this dimensional snail. He looked a little on the sad side, so I thought the "I'm there for you" sentiment fit perfectly. I wanted to leaves to be a bit softer, so I stamped off using the Old Olive inkpad. Then a little bit of layering and paper tearing and done!

Good Friend

"Smarty Pants" has been on my wish list since it appeared in the Spring-Summer Collection and I finally bought it. As I was mounting the stamps, the Frankenstein quote called to me and then I remembered the cute monster image in the Batty for You Halloween stamp set. So I played around and came up with this:
Isn't he adorable?! I love his goofy grin and how the silver brads mimic his bolts!

Stamps: Smarty Pants, Batty for You
Cardstock: Basic Grey, Basic Black, Sage Shadow, Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black, Sage Shadow marker
Accessories: 1-1/4" circle punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, tool kit, silver brads, stampin' dimensionals

Teacher Appreciation Week

Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week and the PTO at my son's school does something special every day of the week. We did bagels one morning, ice cream sandwiches another, a big luncheon at the end of the week. I offered to make goodies for the teachers for one of the days and here's the project I made (I had to make 90!). I thought the star worked perfect since we're the Comets and our colors are green and black. Here's a picture of one closed and one open.

Stamps: Tiny Talk (retired)
Cardstock: black and green (non-SU), Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: large star punch, 1-3/8" circle punch, word window punch, stampin' dimensionals, velcro dots

Happy Mother's Day

A very Happy Mother's Day to all of you with the awesome responsiblity of being a mom! I hope that your family showers you with love every day, but most especially today. Enjoy all the attention and be sure to do something for yourself.

I'm sharing a card I made about a month ago. Yes, I was actually being proactive and making a card for my mom well in advance. But if any of you have seen my craft room, you'll know that it's very easy for me to lose things. So guess what? Yep, despite my best intentions, I lost it. Big surprise there! :) I ended up mailing a different card to my mom but just found the first one this morning!
